All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference

On May 24, 2019, the XIV (III) All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference of Young Scientists, Graduate Students, and Students “Problems of Regional History of Ukraine” was held in Kherson. It was co-organized by the National Museum ”Holodomor Victims Memorial.”

The opening address of the conference was delivered by the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of Kherson State University Sehiii Omelchuk, and also by the Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Dean of the History and Law Faculty of Kherson State University Andrii Kazanchan.

Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Holodomor Research Institute, a branch of the National Museum “Holodomor Victims Memorial,” Viktor Brekhunenko, also delivered the speech.

Subsequently, a report “Nizhyn Newspaper ‘Nove Selo’ as a Tool for Hiding the Truth about the Holodomor-Genocide” was made by Mykhailo Kostiv, an employee of the National Museum “Holodomor Victims Memorial.”

Conference participants watched the documentary “Covering the Holodomor: Memory Eterna,l” created by the Canadian Human Rights Museum. The film explores the role of the media in overcoming silence around human rights violations, one of which was the genocide of Ukrainians –the Holodomor.

During the opening of the conference, within the framework of the museum project "Books for 100 Universities and Libraries of Ukraine: The Struggle for Consciousness," the readers of Kherson Universal Scientific Library named after Oles Honchar were given modern scientific and popular scientific publications on the history of Ukraine of the twentieth century, including those about the genocide of the Ukrainian nation – the Holodomor of 1932–1933.
