The Ukrainian delegation in Washington commemorated Victims of Holodomor

Ukrainian parliamentarians, government officials and representatives of the diaspora who arrived in Washington to participate in the "Ukrainian Days in the US Congress" commemorated the victims of the Holodomor-Genocide of 1932-33 in Ukraine near the Memorial with the same name, informs the official Facebook page of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.

 

The ceremony began with the prayer given by Bishop Ivan Bura and Father Robert Hitchens of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. After that, the participants of the ceremony laid the symbolic sheaves of wheat to the Memorial.

 

Participation in the event from the Ukrainian community in the USA was taken by the President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Andriy Futey and the Chairman of the National Committee on US recognition of the Holodomor as genocide Mikhailo Sawkiv, as well as representatives of Ukrainian public organizations from New York, Ohio, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, as well as the Federal District of Columbia.

 

We recall, that the President of Ukraine urged the US Congress to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide during a meeting with an American delegation within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.
