An International Forum "Ukraine Remembers, the World Recognizes", dedicated for the 85th anniversary of Holodomor of 1932-1933, is taking place in Kyiv, Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

The forum was opened by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv. He noted that from 7 to 10 million Ukrainians were exterminated during Holodomor, directed against the Ukrainian nation.

"Let's ponder... A few digits: it's 28 thousand people every day, it's 1168 people every hour, it's 20 people every minute...", - he said.

In 1932-1933, Holodomor exterminated the number of people who could make up the population of an entire country, such as Belgium, whose population is 10 million, Austria, where population is 8 million, Denmark - 5.2 million. "The inhuman crime of Holodomor must be exposed and recognized as genocide in spite of Moscow's attempts to conceal or deny it", - said Kubiv.

At the same time, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Viacheslav Kyrylenko said: "...this is the genocide of the Ukrainian people, directed political action, the truth about which the world has learned relatively recently." "However, Ukraine, despite all the injuries we are inflicted, is becoming stronger," - Kyrylenko said.

As the Minister of Culture Yevhen Nyshchuk has said, Holodomor of 1933-1932 "is not just a human sacrifice, it is the destruction of the Ukrainian peasantry, the Ukrainian intelligentsia, the brain, ideas, the destruction of the artistic elite."

Recall that on November 21, the International Round Table "Problems of Holodomor-Genocide and commemorated practices in Ukraine and in the World" was held at the National Museum "Holodomor Victims' Memorial".
