News 26 March 2019

On March 26, 2019, the deputy head of tours and education department Yana Horodniak and the tour guide Olha Vyhodovanets met with the teachers of the Podilskyi district of Kyiv.

The event, which took place at the Gymnasium №107 in Kyiv, was attended by school head teachers.

Memorial employees presented educational projects offered by the museum. Using the example of the "Voice of the Witnesses" tour, they described how the memories of people who survived the Holodomor help the students to understand the events of the genocide of Ukrainians.

This tour gives the opportunity to listen to the history of the Holodomor spoken by people who lived in 1932-1933. It includes the photos, letters, and the stories of witnesses to the Holodomor. This kind of materials changes the process of studying the history of genocide of Ukrainians from the theoretical knowledge to understanding the human relations. This is more emotional, personal approach to the topic, and it is more interesting for a growing generation.

Recall that in November of last year the Memorial and the Ministry of Education held the seminar for the teachers on the forms and means of studying the Holodomor in educational institutions.
