The Head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Commemorated the Holodomor Victims

As part of his visit to Zhytomyr region on August 5, 2019, the Blessed Metropolitan Epiphanius, together with the bishopric and the clergy, performed a commemorative service at the Holodomor Memorial in Cherniakhiv village, the press service of the Kyiv Metropolis of Orthodox Church of Ukraine informs.

"They prayed at the monument not only for Ukrainians who were starved to death, but also for the heroic warriors who gave their lives protecting Ukraine from the aggressor."

At the end of the service, Metropolitan Epiphanius said that through prayer we show our love and gratitude to those who were starved to death or gave their lives for our freedom and peaceful existence. Therefore, prayer is the necessary support we can give to those who have gone into eternity.
