On Friday, September 6, the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide was visited by Mirgen Gourgues, an associate of the educational programs of the German-Russian Museum Berlin-Karlshorst.

A museum guest listened to a tour of the history of the Holodomor, walked at the museum's territory and the alley of black-boards, saw the construction of the museum's second part, and honored the memory of the Holodomor victims.

As both museums deal with the problems of historical memory, the preservation, presentation and interpretation of traumatic experience for the society, the German colleagues were most interested in the methods of work of our museum with a different age audience. The objectives of educational programs, types of educational activities and their features were discussed. Ms. Mirgen Gourgues was amazed that such a complex topic as the Holodomor is introduced to the children from elementary school, as the German museum offers to the exposition and educational programs for children from grade 9 only. She was most interested in our experience in holding the workshops in candle-making and making the commemorative badge that allows even the smallest children to learn about the Holodomor without injuring their psyche.

At the end of the meeting, museum staff exchanged the brochures and books.
