Noted scholar Dmytro Solovey, who has devoted a number of years to the study of the tragic depopulation of Ukraine, here discusses one of the main causes, one which is also the most heartrending one. In 1932 – 1933 the Kremlin deliberately inflicted a famine on the Ukrainian lands which claimed, in round numbers, seven million victims. Mr. Solovey delves deeply into the reasons for this most heinous example-in the twentieth century, at least – of man's inhumanity to man.
